About us

A savings and credit co-operative owned by its members.

Who we are

A busy market day in a western Kenya town

Zidisha Investment Co-operative Society is a savings and credit co-operative society formed by people who wanted a safe place to save and a fair place to borrow. Members pool their savings every month; those savings are lent back to members at fair terms, and what the SACCO earns returns to the members as interest on deposits and dividends on shares.

[Add when and where the SACCO was formed, its common bond (who it serves), and its registration details.]

The SACCO is run by a board elected by the members at the annual general meeting and checked by a supervisory committee, also elected by the members.

Swahili, a verbzidisha

What the name means

To increase; to make something grow.

Tuweke akiba pamoja, tukue pamoja: let us save together, and grow together.

Vision, mission and values

Our vision

[Vision to be confirmed by the board.] For example: a savings and credit co-operative where every member grows.

Our mission

[Mission to be confirmed by the board.] For example: to gather members' savings safely and lend them back fairly, with services members can use from their phones.

  • Member owned

Every member is an owner with a vote at the general meeting.

  • Open books

You can see every shilling you save and owe, any time, in the member portal.

  • Careful lending

Loans come from members' savings, so they are lent with care and guaranteed by members.

How the SACCO is run

A co-operative is owned and controlled by its members. Each part answers to the members.

The members

Meet at the annual general meeting, approve the accounts, decide dividends and interest, and elect the board and the supervisory committee.

The board of directors

Sets policy, approves the budget and oversees management on the members' behalf.

The supervisory committee

Checks that the board and management follow the by-laws and the members' decisions.

Management and staff

Run the SACCO day to day: membership, savings, loans and member service.
